Types of therapy we offer to help you reach your goals

Our therapy space is an environment to hold you at your most vulnerable. Most people enter therapy at a tough time in their lives, when they feel lost or stuck. We’re here to be your guide and to help you get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Your old patterns are no longer working for you–that’s why you’re here. Together, we’ll figure out new ways of coping and connecting that can help you reach your goals for therapy–and for your life beyond therapy.

We help people by creating a supportive bond so that you can feel heard.

We  use a relationship-oriented approach when working with all of our clients. We focus on building a strong therapeutic connection by creating an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself. We are “tough” therapists who aren’t afraid to broach hard conversations. In our work together, you’ll receive the feedback and direction you need to grow. We also believe in the importance of creating a collaborative, holistic treatment plan. Our approach to therapy in NYC involves getting to know each client intimately so that we can customize our work to your unique needs and preferences.

Individual Therapy

We help people like you grow beyond your comfort zone. We’ve worked with adults of all ages, and especially enjoy helping young adults navigate all of the challenges, joys, and changes that this stage of life has to offer.

  • Anxiety therapy

If you deal with anxiety, you know all too well how debilitating it can be. It can feel like you’re living in fear, always bombarded with worry about the worst-case scenario. You might even experience physical symptoms like a racing heart, sweaty palms, an upset stomach, headaches, and muscle tension.

While everyone feels anxious from time to time, it shouldn’t rule your life. In therapy, we’ll explore ways to calm your mind and body. You’ll leave our work together feeling confident in your ability to get grounded.
  • Therapy for disordered eating

Sometimes, we develop unhealthy coping strategies because we don’t have another way to deal with hard situations or uncomfortable feelings. However, when those behaviors start to cause more harm than good, it’s time to learn new ones.

If you struggle with your relationship to your body or food, you’re not alone. Therapy for disordered eating can help you heal those relationships and give you new skills to cope with life’s challenges.
  • Therapy for life transitions

For many of us, adulthood (especially young adulthood) is a time of change and transition. Maybe you’re starting your career in a new city, or moving in with a partner for the first time. For others, it’s starting a family or even navigating an empty nest.

No matter what you’re going through, you deserve support. Change can be both exciting and scary at the same time. In therapy, we’ll process all of the emotions that come up for you and help you enter this new chapter of your life with grace.
  • Trauma therapy

Trauma impacts us on the deepest level possible. It changes how we see ourselves, relate to others, and view the world around us. However, it doesn’t have to define you. While we can’t change what happened, we can choose how we approach the world now.

By processing your experiences and understanding how they have impacted you, therapy can help you heal from trauma. You’ll leave our sessions feeling empowered to forge a new way forward on your terms.

Couples Therapy

Relationships are a core component of our work with each client, no matter what specific issue we’re helping with. However, we also offer therapy that’s solely focused on relationships. We help both couples and individuals take a deeper dive into the connections in their lives.

  • Couples therapy

Every couple experiences challenges from time to time, even when things are going well overall. Couples counseling can help you and your partner navigate these challenges as a team, while still respecting your individual needs and differences.

When we work with couples, we make it a priority to get to know both of you intimately. It’s important to understand who each of you are as individuals to give context to your relationship difficulties. You’ll leave therapy feeling understood–by your therapist, your partner, and even yourself.
  • Commitment issues

Past experiences, both personal and within the relationship, can make commitment a difficult area for many people. Some people are quick–almost too quick at times–to dive into relationships headfirst, and others struggle to fully open up to their partners.

No matter your specific issues with commitment, therapy can help you get to the root of the problem. We’ll explore where these challenges come from and how to have the kind of connection you really want.
  • Sex-related issues

Many people struggle with intimacy, both emotional and physical. Therapy provides you and your partner a safe space to talk about these issues and get the support you need to have a fulfilling, satisfying sex life.

In therapy, we’ll explore the role that physical intimacy plays in your relationship. We’ll also discover how your relationship to yourself, your body, and your sexuality come into play when being intimate with your partner.
  • Therapy for family relationships

Family can be a complicated topic. Oftentimes, these are some of our deepest, most vulnerable relationships. While that can be a source of connection and support, it can also be a source of profound hurt and other strong emotions.

Therapy offers you the chance to explore how your family relationships have impacted you, and how they may shape other relationships in your life. You’ll leave with a better understanding of your own needs and boundaries in relationships, as well as skills for connecting with people in a new way.
